Dakini is Bhutanese shilajit in liquid form: a purified mountain resin worked into a concentrate you dose by the drop. No weighing of a sticky mass, you shake the bottle, drop it under your tongue or into water, and you are done.

The taste stays strongly earthy and bitter, only the volume is far smaller. Ten millilitres slip into a pocket or a gym bag, which does away with the jar of sticky resin.

The raw resin comes from the southern foothills of the Himalayas at around 4 500 metres. It is collected by hand, only by licensed harvesters and under the supervision of the Bhutanese forest police, the state caps the annual harvest, and a site takes 2 to 50 years to replenish. Every batch is analysed at Intertek laboratories in Taiwan for heavy metals, pathogens and pesticide residues. You can choose between a 10 ml bottle and the full 6x 10 ml pack.

How to use

Take 10 to 20 drops a day on an empty stomach, at most twice a day. Shake the bottle well before use. Drop it straight into your mouth and hold it under the tongue for up to 5 minutes, or stir it into filtered water, milk or water with honey. Never heat shilajit above 60 °C and never add it to hot liquids. If taking it on an empty stomach leaves you with acid reflux, move the serving to two hours after a meal. If you take medication, leave two hours between it and the shilajit. The maker recommends at least two weeks without a break, a month ideally. The full protocol is six 10 ml bottles used back to back.
