Choosing sports shorts and leggings
The right cut for your training, sizing and the difference between loose and compression styles.
Which style should I choose for MMA, Muay Thai or the gym?
MMA / fight shorts have a looser cut for standing and ground work; look at stretch, side slits and how the waistband fastens. Muay Thai shorts typically have shorter, wider legs and side slits for kicks. Vale Tudo are fitted compression shorts, while leggings cover more of your legs.
Training shorts with pockets can be useful for gym workouts or running. For contact training, also check your gym's rules and whether the fastenings are safe for partner work.
Are all sports shorts suitable for grappling?
Not automatically. For grappling, choose a model without open pockets, exposed zips or hard parts that could catch a finger or scrape your partner. For example, Venum G-Fit Air Training Shorts have open side pockets, so the collection name alone is not enough.
Check the exact model, not just the brand. Before competing, also check the organiser's rules; an MMA or UFC label does not mean approval for every competition.
How do I choose a size when brands fit differently?
If the model has a size chart, measure as shown in its diagram. Distinguish body circumference from the width of a garment laid flat; those measurements cannot be compared directly. For shorts, check the waist and room around the hips and thighs; for leggings, check the length too. Sizing up may also change the leg length.
When trying them on, squat and raise a knee: the waistband should not slip and the fabric should not pull painfully. If measurements are missing, email the model link and your measurements to info@bjp-store.cz; another cut's chart may not apply.
Should I wear leggings or Vale Tudo shorts on their own or under shorts?
Both are used; comfort and your training rules decide. Under loose shorts, they provide a fitted layer that keeps you covered through side slits and during ground work. Try the complete combination to check that the two waistbands do not dig in. Compression clothing should fit closely without constricting you; a smaller size does not automatically work better.
How should I wash performance shorts and leggings?
Follow the label for the exact model. BJP MMA shorts with side slits, Venum G-Fit Air and UFC Fusion Vale Tudo specify washing at 30°C and no tumble-drying. Close hook-and-loop fastenings so they do not catch delicate fabric in the wash. Avoid fabric softener and bleach on compression materials as directed by the manufacturer, and air-dry away from radiators.
What if the size I order does not fit?
A different size is handled by returning the original item and placing a new order. As a consumer, you can notify us of a return within 30 days of delivery. Try clothing on at home as you would in a shop; do not train in it or wash it before deciding.
See Returns and faulty items for the process and conditions. Order the other size separately, subject to current availability.
You can pair your shorts with a rashguard. Check the measurements for the exact cut of each item.
