Vitamin E

Our vitamin E range includes alpha-tocopherol alone and blends of tocopherols and tocotrienols. Compare the exact form, the amount of vitamin per serving and the units on the label. Neither the number of forms nor the highest figure alone determines whether a product is suitable.

How to choose vitamin E

Vitamin forms, units and the difference between a separate supplement and a blend.

How does alpha-tocopherol differ from mixed tocopherols?

D-alpha-tocopherol denotes the natural form and dl-alpha-tocopherol the synthetic form. Blends may include other tocopherols or tocotrienols, as in Dr. Mercola Vitamin E. More forms do not by themselves prove a better effect. Alongside their names, compare the declared amount of vitamin E and the full ingredients, including the carrier oil and capsule shell.

Can I directly compare numbers in mg and IU?

No, these are different units. The conversion from IU also depends on the form of vitamin E. For comparison, look for the vitamin amount in mg α-TE, meaning alpha-tocopherol equivalents; the weight of a blend or ester alone may not be that figure. If the label and product name show different unexplained numbers, first have the details of the specific pack confirmed.

Is vitamin E already in my multivitamin or oil?

It may be. BJP Multi-Immunity contains 15 mg α-TE of vitamin E in 3 capsules. For another product, simply finding “tocopherols” in the ingredients is not enough: they may also be there to protect the oil from oxidation. Add up declared vitamin amounts per serving, rather than estimating them from the total weight of the oil.

Does a higher dose mean better protection for cells?

No. Do not increase vitamin E simply because it is described as an antioxidant. High supplemental doses can increase bleeding risk, especially alongside medicines affecting blood clotting, such as warfarin. Before adding a potent separate product, check your other supplements and discuss the choice with a doctor if you take medicines.

Your multivitamin may already contain vitamin E. When choosing other fat-soluble vitamins, also compare vitamin A and vitamin K. We can help check label information at info@bjp-store.cz.
