Shakers & Bottles

A shaker with a mixing element is useful for powdered drinks. BJP Shaker Blackout 700 ml includes a mixing ball. Add liquid first, then the powder according to its instructions, leaving room for mixing. Close both the lid and drinking cap before shaking.

For plain water, you do not need a mixing element. Venum Contender holds 750 ml and the BJP stainless steel bottle 950 ml. You can also use a shaker for water without the ball; you do not need to buy a second container just for that.

No: insulation matters, not stainless steel alone. The black BJP 950 ml bottle is listed with double-wall vacuum insulation. Check this construction on any other bottle; do not assume that a single-wall steel container works like a vacuum flask.

Temperature retention also depends on the lid, how often you open it and the surrounding conditions. If the manufacturer does not state a duration for that model, do not assume a specific number of hours.

Use cool, non-carbonated drinks for shaking, not hot or fizzy liquids. Pressure can build inside a closed shaker, causing the drinking cap to pop open or the contents to spray when opened.

A vacuum bottle being suitable for a warm drink does not make it safe to shake that drink in a shaker. For warm drinks, check the intended use of both the container and its lid; do not automatically choose a sports lid with a straw.

Instructions for the body may not apply to the lid, seal or other parts. The black BJP stainless steel 950 ml bottle is listed as allowing the body on the dishwasher's top rack, while its lids must be washed by hand.

For a shaker or another bottle without explicit dishwasher approval, hand-wash with lukewarm water and mild washing-up liquid. Do not decide based only on whether the container is plastic or stainless steel.

Rinse and wash it as soon as possible after drinking, including every part that touched the drink: the body, lid, drinking cap, ball and straw if fitted. Pay attention to threads and crevices; remove a detachable seal only as directed.

Use non-abrasive cleaning tools and a product suitable for washing dishes, rinse thoroughly and let all parts dry completely, separately. A quick rinse without washing off drink residue is not a substitute for regular cleaning.

Check that the thread is clean, the seal is seated correctly, and both the lid and drinking cap are fully closed. After reassembly, test for leaks with water over a sink. If it leaks, realign the lid and check the parts rather than forcing it tighter.

Replace a cracked lid or damaged seal with a compatible part if one is available for the model. Follow the container's carrying instructions when packing it in a sports bag; a screw lid alone does not guarantee that every model is leakproof.
