Men's hoodies and cardigans

A crewneck sweatshirt has a round neckline and no hood; a hoodie has a hood. A zip-up can be opened or taken off without pulling it over your head. A crewneck works under a jacket when you want to avoid layering two hoods.

The black BJP cardigan has an open front and extended front panels. It is not a conventional zip-up hoodie: the fabric hangs loosely and the front does not fasten.

Not automatically. Oversized means deliberately roomy, not incorrectly sized. The black Core has extra room through the body and sleeves. A smaller size also changes body and sleeve length, not just width.

If you want less volume, compare measurements with a regular-fit model such as Crewneck Basic. Choose the proportions you want rather than relying on the same size letter across different cuts.

Lay a sweatshirt that fits you flat and measure its chest width, body length and sleeve length. Then follow the diagram for your chosen model. Compare garment measurements with a garment, and body measurements with your body. A sweatshirt's flat width is not a chest circumference.

When trying it on, allow for a T-shirt or other layer underneath and raise your arms in front of you. If there is no chart or the sleeve measuring points are unclear, send us the model name and your measurements.

Look at fabric weight and the inner surface. The black BJP cardigan has a fabric weight of 320 g/m² and a brushed inside. The BJP DRYCLIM sports hoodie uses a 215 g/m² main fabric with light brushing and mesh underarm panels.

Fabric weight is the weight of one square metre of fabric, not a temperature rating. Construction, fit and layers underneath also affect warmth; the number does not tell you an exact outdoor temperature for wearing it.

Check the composition of the specific model and colour. The black oversized Core is 100% cotton; Crewneck Basic Sand is 65% cotton and 35% polyester. Neither the brand name nor the word “sweatshirt” tells you the fabric.

For exercise, check the construction too: the BJP sports hoodie uses DRYCLIM, which its manufacturer ATEX describes as moisture-wicking and quick-drying. Do not assume every polyester hoodie has these properties.

Start with the care label on your garment. Both the black oversized Core and the black cardigan specify washing inside out at 30°C and no tumble drying. Fasten zips before washing and keep exposed hook-and-loop fasteners away from the fabric to prevent snagging.

Ironing instructions differ: the black cardigan must not be ironed, while Core allows a low setting away from the print. Do not use one wash programme and care routine for every sweatshirt simply because they share a brand.
