L-glutamine questions

What to expect, how to compare packs and what to check when combining supplements.

Is glutamine essential for everyone who exercises?

No. Your body can make glutamine, and you also get it from dietary protein. There is no convincing evidence that taking it as a standalone supplement improves exercise performance in healthy people. It is therefore not a compulsory part of recovery or a substitute for food and rest. Do not buy it expecting it to resolve persistent digestive problems on its own.

Do all brands recommend the same serving?

No. Do not transfer dosing instructions from one product to another. Viridian L-Glutamine Powder specifies 3.5 g daily, while Puhdistamo Glutamiini specifies 5 g daily. Reflex divides daily use into several servings. A scoop measures volume, not a universal weight of powder. Follow the weight in grams and total daily amount stated on the specific pack.

How do I compare price and how long different packs last?

Compare the price for the same weight of powder, then calculate days of use from the instructions separately. A Puhdistamo 250 g pack at the stated 5 g daily lasts 50 days. In contrast, 100 servings need not mean 100 days if the manufacturer specifies several servings daily. Also check possible traces of allergens in single-ingredient powders; a short ingredient list does not guarantee their absence.

Can I add glutamine to protein or BCAA?

Unflavoured powder can be mixed into another drink where the specific product’s instructions allow it. Check that drink’s formula first: BCAA+ strawberry and kiwi and Energy Cola already list 1 g of added L-glutamine per serving. You may therefore be taking the same ingredient in several supplements. Glutamine naturally listed in a protein’s amino acid profile is different from another added serving of standalone powder.
