Superfoods
Plant powders, green blends, marine ingredients and bamboo salt. The name superfood does not tell you how many nutrients a normal serving provides. Choose by the actual ingredients, directions and amount you will eat or drink.

Choosing superfoods
What serving size, ingredients and origin can tell you.
Does superfood automatically mean a high dose of vitamins and minerals?
No. Read the amount of the specific nutrient per serving, not just the powder weight or a list of substances found in the raw material. For example, OysterMax powder provides 2.4 mg of zinc in a 1.2 g serving of extract. The weight of oyster powder is therefore not the weight of zinc. If a product does not state a vitamin amount, its name cannot tell you how much you will get. A powder alone cannot replace a varied diet.
How does maca differ from a green blend, and can I use the same teaspoon?
WoldoHealth red maca is a powder made from a single ingredient, maca root. Soul Food Greens combines spirulina, chlorella, young wheat and barley, alfalfa and seaweed. Their tastes and ingredients differ. A teaspoon is not a reliable weight conversion between powders: the maca description gives about 5 g, while Soul Food Greens gives 4 g. Follow the weight in grams for the specific product and weigh the serving if unsure.
Are all superfoods plant-based and suitable for people with allergies?
No. OysterMax is an oyster meat extract, contains molluscs and is neither vegan nor suitable for people with a mollusc allergy. Phytoplankton ULTANA, by contrast, is a marine phytoplankton powder described as vegan. A marine origin does not mean identical ingredients. Check other ingredients and trace allergens on blend labels too; 'no additives' does not mean 'allergen-free'.
Can I use unlimited bamboo salt because it contains minerals?
No. Purple bamboo salt 9X is still a substantial source of sodium: according to its table, a 0.5 g portion contains about 180 mg of sodium. Roasting and trace minerals do not make it a replacement for targeted magnesium or potassium supplementation. Use it sparingly as a strongly flavoured seasoning and count it towards your total salt intake, especially if you follow a salt-restricted diet.
