Hericium erinaceus, better known as lion's mane, grows on the deadwood of broadleaf trees and its white cascading spines really do look the part. This capsule holds the extract at a 10–12:1 ratio, a concentrate that takes ten to twelve parts of dried mushroom to make one part of extract.
The figure that matters is the standardisation: 200 mg of extract per capsule, carrying 40% polysaccharides and 25% beta-glucans. That beta-glucan number is what separates a genuine extract from cheap milled fruiting body or from mycelium grown on grain, where the content often is not declared at all. NutriWorks prints the figures straight on the label.
The shell is plant based, made from hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, and apart from the extract and its carrier there is nothing else inside. No sweetener, no flavouring, no colour. Production runs in Finland and Sweden, where NutriWorks has been manufacturing since 2009.
