OregaUltra oregano oil is steam distilled from wild oregano, Origanum vulgare heracleoticum, picked by hand in the remote mountain areas of Greece. Carvacrol, the main component of the essential oil, makes up 86 to 90 % of it.

The oil is not diluted and nothing is added to it. No carrier oil, no synthetic flavourings, no preservatives. It is bottled in dark glass because essential oils are sensitive to light. Adam Raw buys it straight from the Greek producer Zane Hellas.

Oregano has been part of the Mediterranean since antiquity, in the kitchen and in folk tradition. The undiluted essential oil is a different animal from the dried herb on a pizza, though: the taste is sharp and fiery, which is why five drops always go into a teaspoon of olive oil and are taken after a meal. At five drops a day the 30 ml bottle covers roughly 175 servings.

Dosage

Measure out 5 drops, which is 0.17 ml, and stir them into one teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil, roughly 30 drops. Take it after a meal. The producer recommends a twenty-day run followed by a seven-day break. Do not exceed the recommended dose and never take the oil undiluted.

Warning
