Cholecalciferol, or vitamin D3, is produced in the body after exposure to sunlight. It is a substance that is further converted (hydroxylated) in the body into the active forms 25-hydroxyvitamin and 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin, which are already used by cells throughout the body.The need for vitamin D increases especially in the winter months, when sunlight is limited. The properties of this are not only related to the condition of bones and teeth, but also to immunity and mental condition.
In addition to vitamin D3, cod liver oil naturally contains vitamin A and EPA DHA, omega-3 fatty acids that are essential for the functioning of the entire body.
