Tea Boosters

Samurai Shot concentrates are based on tea, ginger and spices. Measure a small amount from the bottle to serve as a shot or dilute it. Alongside concentrates, you will find ready-to-drink Samurai Energy cans and sparkling tea drinks. Compare serving instructions, caffeine and sweetening when choosing.

Choosing and serving a tea booster

Concentrates and ready-to-drink products are served differently. Here is what to measure out and what needs no dilution.

Should I drink a whole bottle of Samurai Shot at once?

No. Samurai Shot in a 500 ml bottle is a concentrate for multiple servings. The manufacturer describes serving a small 50 ml shot, or mixing a measured amount with water or another liquid. Check the quantity and serving instructions on your flavour’s label. Samurai Energy in a 330 ml can and the sparkling Royal Moments and Geisha Velvet drinks, by contrast, are ready to drink without dilution.

How much caffeine is there, and does dilution reduce it?

Calculate caffeine for the amount you will actually drink. According to the manufacturer, Bitter Green contains approximately 65 mg per 50 ml. Adding water does not change that caffeine dose; it only increases the volume of the drink. Samurai Energy Pu-Erh & Blueberry lists approximately 40 mg per 100 ml, or 132 mg in a full 330 ml can. Check the units before comparing different products.

Which option should I choose if I do not want caffeine?

The manufacturer lists Gingerhead as caffeine-free; its base is ginger, turmeric, lemon and chilli. It is not sugar-free, however, and it has a pronounced spicy taste. Expect caffeine in the tea-based options and read the warnings on the label. Do not choose a drink for a child just because it has a fruit flavour or says “natural”; the caffeinated options are not intended for children.

Are all tea boosters unsweetened?

No. Bitter Green and Pure Dark have recipes with no added sugar, but Sweet Flower and Gingerhead contain cane sugar. Matcha Booster contains pear concentrate, and Samurai Energy Pu-Erh & Blueberry uses a stevia-derived sweetener. Choose by the ingredients of the particular product. Adding juice or syrup to the finished drink also changes its sugar and energy content.

How should I handle an opened bottle?

Reseal the opened concentrate, keep it in the fridge and use it within the period stated on its label. One storage period does not automatically apply to shots, sparkling drinks and cans alike. Tea concentrate may have natural sediment; this alone does not necessarily indicate a fault, but it is not proof of freshness either. Note the opening date if you use the bottle gradually.
