The Venum Contender 1.5 XT 3D gloves belong to the entry-level Contender series, and their multi-density foam padding absorbs impact on the bag, on the pads and in sparring. They suit you if you are starting boxing, kickboxing or Muay Thai and want a first pair of gloves for three to four sessions a week.

Attached thumb, 3D motif and synthetic leather
The thumb is stitched to the main body of the glove, so it cannot bend away freely on impact. Multi-density injected foam absorbs the shock, and you adjust the wide hook-and-loop strap to your wrist.
The synthetic leather has a tonal 3D Venum lettering pattern across the back of the hand and the cuff, a white snake-head logo on the back of the hand and Venum lettering on the strap. Dark brown is one of several colourways of this model. Country of manufacture: China.
Choosing the weight
The oz figure says nothing about the size of your hand
Ounces (oz) give the weight of the glove. A 16 oz glove is not made for a bigger hand than a 10 oz one. It simply has more padding. Lighter pairs suit pad work and fast technique, heavier ones the bag and, above all, sparring.

Are Contender 1.5 XT 3D gloves made of real leather?
No. The manufacturer uses the term semi-leather, which means synthetic leather.
Will they stand up to daily training?
The manufacturer designs them for use three to four times a week. With daily training or hard bag work, expect the padding to wear faster. Let the gloves air out and wipe them down after training: damp gloves shut in a bag wear out fastest of all.
The padding absorbs impact, but it is no guarantee against injury. Settle how hard you spar with your partner and coach.
