Namman Muay: the Thai boxing liniment every Muay Thai gym knows

Namman Muay was created in 1937 by Thongtos Intratat, a Bangkok pharmacist and boxing gym owner, to help his fighters warm up faster. His formula of essential oils from local herbs became the world's first boxing liniment, and since the 1960s, when Thailand's first professional world champion Pone Kingpetch fought with it, it has been as much a part of Thai gyms as hand wraps. You will recognise the smell of Namman Muay in any hall where Muay Thai is trained.

For the European market the brand has adapted formulas that meet local regulations while keeping the characteristic warming and cooling effect of eucalyptus and menthol. They are used to warm up muscles before training and for massage afterwards.
