Black and white is the most versatile combination in the whole Instant Custom Fit line. You never have to work out whether it matches your gloves, your shirt or your gi, and it looks equally at home in a boxing gym and at a judo tournament. If this is your first guard from the top OPRO range and you would rather not choose by artwork, start here.

Triple layer construction is the main thing separating Instant Custom Fit from the dual layer Gold, Silver and Bronze models. The hard dental grade shell sits on the outside, the high flow gel fins on the inside, and between them the patented dual compression cage pushes the material evenly across the whole arch as you bite.

CE certification, EVA free of BPA and latex, and a manufacturer dental warranty of up to €20,000 for twelve months apply across the whole line. No other OPRO range carries more: Gold covers €15,000, Silver €12,500 and Bronze €10,000. After a retail purchase the warranty needs registering.

How to fit it

1. Drop the mouthguard into the fitting tray and hold it in freshly boiled water for exactly 30 seconds. That is ten seconds more than the Gold, Silver and Bronze self-fit ranges need, because the Instant Custom Fit material heats through more slowly. Beyond thirty seconds the material suffers.
2. Lift it out and shake it firmly for about ten seconds to clear the hot water and take the edge off the temperature.
3. Centre the tray over your teeth and bite down hard. Hold for at least 30 seconds, 60 is better.
4. Release the bite, take the tray out and put the mouthguard in cold water for 30 seconds.
5. Let it set before the first session: fifteen minutes in the fridge, or an hour at room temperature.

If it still shifts around in your mouth, run the whole process again.

Care and lifespan

Rinse the guard under cold running water after training and let it dry completely before it goes back in the case. Hot water, the dishwasher and the washing machine are all out, because heat and agitation warp the shape. Keep it out of a parked car and off the radiator too. The manufacturer recommends replacing a mouthguard once a year, and sooner as soon as the material thins, tears or shows bite marks. For children and teenagers that yearly swap matters even more, because the jaw and the teeth are still moving. The dental warranty runs for twelve months from purchase.

Warning

This guard is not made for fixed braces; OPRO builds a separate version for those. Moulding involves boiling water, so children should do it with an adult present. Never share a mouthguard, the impression only matches one set of teeth. Rinse it before and after use and stop using it once it is damaged.
