Venum Contender 1.5 XT 3D Shin Guards - White/Gold
Product detailed description
Venum Contender 1.5 XT 3D · White/Gold
Shin and instep guards for your first kicks
The white Venum Contender 1.5 XT 3D shin guards also cover the instep, and their foam padding absorbs impact in kicks and blocks with a partner. Venum makes them for beginners in Muay Thai, kickboxing or MMA and for regular training 3–4 times a week.

Instep, shin and two hook-and-loop straps
The foam-padded shin section covers the front of your leg from just below the knee to the instep, and a separate instep section covers the top of your foot when you kick. Injected foam absorbs impact, and the construction is lightweight and does not restrict your movement.
Two hook-and-loop straps on the back wrap around the calf and hold the guard without slipping. The synthetic leather outer is white with an embossed 3D pattern, and the Venum logo on the front and the lettering on the instep are gold.
Choosing your size
Shin length decides the size
We offer the guards in sizes M, L and XL. Go by your shin length: the padding should reach from just below the knee to the instep without pressing into the knee or ending too high above the ankle.
Use the straps to fine-tune the fit around your calf. If the guard only fits when strapped tight, try another size.
- Put them on and fasten both strapsThe guard should stay centred on your shin without squeezing your calf.
- Bend your kneeThe top edge should not knock against your knee, and the instep section should stay on your foot.
- Lift your leg into a blockThe guard should not twist to the side or slide down.
Size guide
Choose your size using shin length. Measurements are in centimetres.
| Size | Shin length (cm) |
|---|---|
| M | 36 |
| L | 38 |
| XL | 40 |
How to measure: Measure your shin from just below the knee to the ankle joint. Use your shin length, rather than your whole leg or the guard’s instep section.
Fit advice: Between sizes, Venum recommends the smaller option for a closer fit or the larger option for more room around the calf.
Frequently asked questions
Do they cover the instep too?
Yes. Alongside the shin section, there is a separate padded instep section that covers the top of your foot when you kick.
Are they suitable for complete beginners?
Yes, Contender is Venum's entry-level range and Venum recommends this model for beginners in MMA, Muay Thai and kickboxing. Your coach will tell you whether you need them for class.
What is the 3D motif?
It is an embossed pattern of Venum lettering pressed into the surface of the guard. Venum lists it as a motif: a design feature.
How do I clean the white outer?
Wipe it with a damp cloth straight after training, before the dirt dries on, and leave the guards to dry naturally. Do not machine wash them or dry them on a radiator.
The guards absorb impact to the shin and instep, but protection from injury is not guaranteed. Match the force of your kicks to your partner and coach.

The gear UFC fighters walk out in
Venum is a French combat sports brand founded in 2006. Since 2021 it has been the UFC's exclusive outfitting partner, so UFC fighters step into the Octagon wearing Venum. The brand covers MMA, boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, from first gloves to fight-night kit.
Venum pairs well-thought-out construction with bold design. Its gloves use multi-density foam, an attached thumb and wide hook-and-loop straps; its shorts and rashguards use lightweight stretch fabrics with reinforced seams. Many of its leather gloves are handmade in Thailand, the home of Muay Thai.
