The white Venum Contender 1.5 XT 3D are entry-level sparring gloves for anyone learning MMA, Muay Thai or kickboxing. Foam over the knuckles absorbs your strikes, the open palm keeps your fingers free for grips, and the manufacturer builds them for 3–4 classes a week.

A white outer with a tonal 3D pattern
The synthetic leather outer is all white, with a subtle tonal 3D pattern of Venum lettering and a gold logo on the back of the hand and the cuff. Beneath it, multi-density injected foam absorbs the impact of your strikes.
The open palm and flexible fit let you grab your partner. The thumb is attached along its full length. Neoprene inside wicks sweat, and the large hook-and-loop strap holds the glove at the wrist.
Choosing your size
The glove should feel secure, not tight
Sizes S, M and L/XL are based on hand size, and the only thing that matters when choosing is how the glove fits.
Try it with a closed fist and with an open hand, and with your wraps on if you wear them.
- Make a fistThe padding should cover your knuckles, and the palm should not wrinkle.
- Spread your fingersThe finger openings should not pinch, and the glove should not slide off.
- Tighten the strapThe glove should feel secure at the wrist without your hand tingling.

How to measure: Measure around your hand at the base of your fingers, excluding your thumb. Allow for the hand wraps you use.
Fit advice: Venum recommends the smaller option when between sizes. Account for your wraps and finger comfort. The manufacturer lists 22 cm as the reference circumference for L/XL.
Frequently asked questions
Do they work for ground grappling too?
The open palm and free fingers let you grip, which is why they work for MMA as a whole. The padding over the knuckles is bulkier than on competition gloves, though, so for pure grappling without strikes you do not need them.
Will they stand up to regular training?
The manufacturer lists them as suitable for regular use 3–4 times a week. Their lifespan depends mainly on how hard you spar and whether you let them dry after training.
Will the white get dirty quickly?
A white outer shows scuffs and marks from the floor sooner than a black one. Synthetic leather wipes clean with a damp cloth, ideally straight after training, before the dirt dries on.
How do I dry them?
Undo the strap and let them air dry, not on a radiator or in the sun. Do not machine wash them. Only put them back in your bag once they are dry.
Gloves soften the impact, but they are no guarantee that you or your partner will not get hurt. Keep the power of your strikes to the level you agree with your partner and coach.
