The Venum Demon short sleeve rashguard is a close-fitting layer between your skin and the mat in jiu-jitsu and MMA, leaving your forearms free. It is made from a bi-stretch blend of 81% polyester and 19% elastane, with reinforced seams built for rolling and silicone bands in the hem, and you can wear it on its own or under a gi. The fit is tight: Venum recommends going one to two sizes up.

Detailed information

Product detailed description

Venum Demon · Black/Grey

A close-fitting short sleeve rashguard for gi and no-gi

The short sleeve Venum Demon is a compression layer for jiu-jitsu, MMA and strength training: it covers your torso, leaves your arms free for grips, and the silicone bands in the hem keep it at your waist, worn on its own or under a gi. The reinforced seams stand up to rolling, and the bi-stretch fabric fits like a second skin. You will appreciate it in a warm gym, or wherever a long sleeve gets in the way.

A flame on the short sleeve

The bi-stretch blend of 81% polyester and 19% elastane follows your torso through sprawls, rolls and barbell work. The reinforced seams are built for grappling and rolling, and the silicone bands in the hem stop it riding up during body grips.

The short sleeve has a red flame with a grey shadow, the chest a red Venum logo and the shoulder blades red panels. Grey stripes run down the whole black base. The Demon long sleeve rashguard, fight shorts and T-shirt share the same graphics, so you can put together a full set.

Choosing your size

Go one to two sizes up from your usual size

Venum labels the model as a tight fit and recommends choosing one to two sizes larger than your everyday T-shirt size. It should hug your chest and waist, but it should not restrict your breathing or your shoulder movement.

Sizes S, M, L, XL and XXL.

  1. Reach forward and cross your armsThe short sleeves should not squeeze your biceps or dig in under the arms.
  2. Do a sprawlThe top should stay tucked in, with the silicone bands lying on the skin.
  3. Take a deep breathYour chest should expand without feeling constricted.

Size guide

Measure your body, rather than a garment laid flat. The table gives approximate body measurements in centimetres.

Size Chest circumference (cm)
S 96–99
M 100–103
L 104–107
XL 108–111
XXL 112–115

How to measure: Pass a measuring tape horizontally under your arms around the fullest part of your chest. Stand naturally without pulling the tape tight.

Fit advice: A rashguard is designed for a close, second-skin fit. Follow the chart for compression; Venum recommends going one size up for a lighter compression feel.

Frequently asked questions

Short or long sleeve Demon?

The short sleeve leaves your arms free and breathes better, so it suits a warm gym and no-gi. The long sleeve Demon covers your arms fully. The material, seams and hem are the same on both.

Does it work as a base layer under a gi?

Yes. It fits closely, so it will not bunch up under the jacket, and the silicone hem keeps the top at your waist even when someone pulls on your collar. On its own, wear it for no-gi, MMA and strength training.

Which size should I order?

Venum recommends one to two sizes larger than your everyday T-shirt size. One size up gives a noticeably close fit, and two sizes up makes sense if you are between sizes.

Can it go in the washing machine?

Yes, wash at 30°C. Do not tumble dry and do not iron. Leave it to dry naturally.

The brand · Venum

The gear UFC fighters walk out in

Venum is a French combat sports brand founded in 2006. Since 2021 it has been the UFC's exclusive outfitting partner, so UFC fighters step into the Octagon wearing Venum. The brand covers MMA, boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, from first gloves to fight-night kit.

Venum pairs well-thought-out construction with bold design. Its gloves use multi-density foam, an attached thumb and wide hook-and-loop straps; its shorts and rashguards use lightweight stretch fabrics with reinforced seams. Many of its leather gloves are handmade in Thailand, the home of Muay Thai.
