Venum G-Core Sparring Gloves - Black/Gold
Product detailed description
Venum G-Core · Black/Gold
MMA sparring gloves with wrist support
The Venum G-Core are MMA sparring gloves: 8 oz of injected foam padding absorbs strikes and a wide hook-and-loop strap supports your wrist. They suit MMA training where you switch between strikes on your feet and grips, and they match the rest of the G-Core range.

- 8 oz of injected foam

- Wide hook-and-loop closure

Skintex, neoprene and screen printing
The 8 oz of injected foam padding absorbs impact over the knuckles. The palm stays open and the fingers free, so you can go straight from a strike into a grip. The neoprene interior helps sweat evaporate and improves your grip in grappling. The thumb is attached to the body of the glove.
The wide hook-and-loop strap wraps around and supports the wrist. The outer is Skintex, Venum's synthetic leather, here in black with a gold logo and gold lines on the back of the hand. The logos are screen-printed, which Venum says will last.
Choosing your size
What 8 oz means on MMA gloves
The 8 oz figure describes the amount of padding, not the size. We offer the G-Core in sizes S, M and L/XL. Unlike boxing gloves, you choose them by hand size, not weight.
The size is printed on the cuff. If you wear hand wraps, try the gloves on with them.
- Check the lengthYour fingers should end in the openings, neither crammed into them nor sticking out too far.
- Make a fist with wraps onYou should be able to close your fist without the glove pulling across the back of your hand.
- Tighten the strapThe wrist should be firmly supported, but your fingers should not tingle.
Size guide
Choose your size using hand circumference. Measurements are in centimetres.
| Size | Hand circumference (cm) |
|---|---|
| S | 16–18 |
| M | 19–21 |
| L/XL | 22 |
How to measure: Measure around your hand at the base of your fingers, excluding your thumb. Allow for the hand wraps you use.
Fit advice: Venum recommends the smaller option when between sizes. Account for your wraps and finger comfort. The manufacturer lists 22 cm as the reference circumference for L/XL.
Frequently asked questions
Is Skintex real leather?
No. Skintex is a synthetic leather that Venum uses for the outer of its gloves. Inside there is foam padding and neoprene.
How do they differ from the Contender 1.5 XT 3D?
The G-Core has a Skintex synthetic leather outer and a stated 8 oz of padding. The Contender 1.5 XT 3D belongs to Venum's more affordable entry-level range, and Venum does not give its padding weight in ounces. Both models have an open palm, a wide hook-and-loop closure and neoprene inside.
Do I need hand wraps under them?
They are not compulsory, but many coaches recommend them for sparring. If you use wraps, choose a size that lets you make a fist comfortably with them on.
How do I look after them?
After training, undo the strap and let them air out away from radiators and sunlight. Wipe the Skintex with a damp cloth. Do not machine wash them or leave them wet in your bag.
Injected foam absorbs impact, but it does not guarantee protection from injury. How hard you spar is for you, your partner and your coach to agree.

The gear UFC fighters walk out in
Venum is a French combat sports brand founded in 2006. Since 2021 it has been the UFC's exclusive outfitting partner, so UFC fighters step into the Octagon wearing Venum. The brand covers MMA, boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, from first gloves to fight-night kit.
Venum pairs well-thought-out construction with bold design. Its gloves use multi-density foam, an attached thumb and wide hook-and-loop straps; its shorts and rashguards use lightweight stretch fabrics with reinforced seams. Many of its leather gloves are handmade in Thailand, the home of Muay Thai.
