Acetyl Glutathione is the most advanced form of bioavailable glutathione. Its effectiveness is equal to intravenous administration of glutathioneGlutathione is a very powerful antioxidant that is naturally produced in the body and its production declines with age. Glutathione supports neuronal health, liver function, and immune system health.

By adding an acetyl functional group to the glutathione molecule , common problems with absorption in the digestive tract have been overcome, allowing glutathione to reach cells directly. Research suggests that acetylated glutathione is more stable in the blood and increases glutathione levels in cells better than regular forms of glutathione.[1] Due to the stability of the molecule, glutathione could also cross the blood-brain barrier (supporting neurons directly in the brain).

Product detailed description

BrainMax S-Acetyl-L-Glutathione, SAG, 100 mg, 100 vegetable capsules

Acetylated glutathione is an innovation in glutathione supplementation, with stability and bioavailability comparable to intravenous glutathione. [1] However, it is much cheaper and easier to administer than intravenous glutathione. Due to its high stability, SAG can survive in the digestive tract without degradation and then increase glutathione directly in cells.

Compared to NAC supplementation, which is a precursor to glutathione, acetylated glutathione has the advantage that increasing glutathione in cells is not energy-intensive and there are no obstacles related to heavy metal toxicity or metabolic problems. Your health status does not affect the increase in glutathione in cells when taking SAG. You could say that SAG is a certainty in the field of glutathione supplementation. For maximum antioxidant synergy, the antioxidant capacity can be temporarily increased by taking SAG and NAC together, for example due to an incipient infection, cold, or reduced immunity.

What is glutathione and what is it good for?

Glutathione is a small peptide with a molecule composed of three amino acids: glutamic acid, cysteine, and glycine. Glutathione is the most powerful antioxidant and is produced by every cell in the body, but is particularly important in the liver. It participates in the removal of reactive oxygen species (free radicals) constantly produced in the metabolism of red blood cells (in mitochondria), thus protecting them from oxidative damageThus, higher levels of glutathione in cells are linked to higher cellular energy production and cellular health. Glutathione also plays an important role in immune system function and the detoxification process.

Our own production of glutathione declines with age. Glutathione production also decreases with poor diet, alcohol abuse, stress, infections, toxins, or environmental pollution. With low levels of glutathione in the body, we become more susceptible to infections and diseases because we lack the ability to detoxify effectively.
