Shellac is a resin secreted by the female lacquer worm, an insect living in India. Sheets of this resin dissolve in ethyl alcohol to form liquid shellac, which is used as a varnish and glaze. These substances are commonly used in dietary supplements, medicines, and foods. You won't find them in Viridian supplements.
