Calcium D-glucarate is a compound composed of calcium and D-glucaric acid. D-glucaric acid is a metabolite of glucose that occurs naturally in the human body and in some foods, such as apples, grapefruits, broccoli and potatoes.
What is glucuronidation?
Glucuronidation is a biochemical process in which glucuronic acid binds to various substances to make them more water-soluble and allow them to be eliminated from the body. This process is key to detoxifying the body. Glucuronidation occurs mainly in the liver, where special enzymes attach glucuronic acid to these substances. This makes these substances more soluble in water and can be more easily also excreted in urine or bile . This process helps protect the body from harmful substances.
