Why do we have wrinkles?

As we age, our silicon reserves and the production of collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), which are the basic building blocks for skin hydration and firmness, naturally decrease. The activity of enzymes that degrade collagen and elastin increases with age, leading to a decrease in skin thickness, loss of hydration and elasticity.
