Nordbo Collagen comes from freshwater fish skin from a sustainable and fully traceable source. This guarantees the nutritional value and quality of each batch. The advantage of freshwater fish from controlled sustainable farming (ASC certificate) over saltwater fish is the low sodium content and the controlled clean water in which the fish swim. The result is a completely neutral, clean taste.
Optimal usability
At the molecular level, the collagen structure of an animal's skin is strongly influenced by the temperature in which the animal lives. If it lives at a temperature similar to room temperature, it develops collagen that is similar to the collagen in other species that live at the same temperature - e.g., humans. The skin of a saltwater fish is adapted to cold water, which means that the collagen in the skin of a saltwater fish has a different amino acid profile than our human collagen, which is why it is a little more difficult to utilize. In contrast, freshwater fish, which live their entire lives in fresh water at room temperature, have collagen in their skin with an amino acid profile more similar to human collagen. Therefore, it is better usable by the human body - cells react to it as if it were their own. Collagen from freshwater fish contains more hydroxyproline, proline, and also more essential amino acids such as isoleucine, leucine, lysine, and phenylalanine than marine collagen. The overall high proportion of amino acids is also due to the freshness of the fish, which is processed within 24 hours of being caught.

ASC certification: Aquaculture Stewardship Council
ASC is a multinational sustainability certificate for fish farms that guarantees sustainable farming and production. The ASC certificate regulates, among other things, fish feed, antibiotic use, animal health, and product traceability back to its place of origin. 10 requirements for certification
1. Fish must live exclusively in conditions that reflect the best possible natural habitat conditions, which includes clean, flowing water.

3. Conventional synthetic substances that could damage the aquatic environment must not be used when caring for fish or ponds.
4. Fish farms must have monitoring of the health and condition of the animals carried out by an independent veterinarian.

6. Water from farms discharged into the open environment must be checked for the content of oxygen, nitrates, nitrites, phosphorus and other substances.
7. Fish farming must have a long-term plan for sustainable management and prioritize green energy and recyclable materials.
8.Production must be fully traceable from the point of manufacture to the final product.
9. Fish must have enough space for natural movement without stress and without injuring each other.
10. Fish must be caught using so-called soft methods (nets) and transported in approved containers.
