After consuming dietary protein, on the one hand, waste is produced from the non-absorbable portion of the protein, which must be excreted through the intestine. On the other hand, "metabolic waste" (MO), more precisely "nitrogenous waste", is produced through the catabolic pathway, i.e. through the degrading metabolism of amino acids. Nitrogenous waste is produced in the form of ammonia, which must be excreted by the liver and kidneys, and the resulting glucose by gluconeogenesis.
